Where did you go to school or get your training?

I went to the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio where I got my undergraduate degree in Exercise Science. I then attended Houston Baptist University where I got my master's degree and worked as a graduate assistant for the athletic department.

What was your motivation in becoming an ATH Coach?

I love the continuing education ATH offers, the partnership with the hospital to work with doctors and physical therapists, and the wide range of athletes that can be trained.

What was the biggest game-changer in your career?

The biggest game-changer in my career was working at the IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institute with Memorial Hermann for the past two years. I was able to see a different side of strength and conditioning while honing my skills with the Rebuild ATHletes while working along with surgeons and physical therapists. This was one of the best experiences of my life.

Can you recall a time you made an impact on an athlete?

I feel like I do that almost every day working with injured athletes! The ability to work with them, get them out of feeling low and depressed and returning to their sport is very rewarding. I know that they appreciate us helping them return to play.

What is it like working with pro athletes that are trying to excel in their sport?

It is definitely fun working with pro athletes that are trying to advance! The young guys are so hungry for training and the little things, they really want to prove themselves.

What advice would you give injured athletes looking to get back on the field?

Stay consistent, listen to the surgeons, physical therapists, and the strength and conditioning specialist. Understand that this is just a short time in your life that is difficult but that you will grow from it. Just take every day and try to attack it with a positive attitude.
