Preventing injuries is key to keeping your school, club team and youth organizations healthy and competitive. The integrated teams at Texas Health Sports Medicine and Athlete Training and Health can provide a comprehensive solution to help determine the risk of lower extremity injuries for your athletes and help them perform at their best during game play.
Texas Health Sports Medicine uses the Fast ACL Screening Tool – or FAST method – to quickly screen for potential risk of ACL injury. This quick movement analysis is used to help detect areas of weakness and poor movement patters in athletes.

To complete the screen, a clinical biomechanist and sports physical therapist from the team at Texas Health Sports Medicine will conduct brief, 2-D view of a jump landing from a box at a standard height/distance. During this jumping and landing exercise they take live then freeze frames of an athletes pattern at initial contact and maximum knee flexion. Based off of the results, each athletes is provided a brief qualitative score report with their recommendation for future testing.
The FAST screening tool can be done for a team of athletes and is offered at no cost to schools, club teams and youth organizations in the DFW metroplex. Coupled with the Athlete Training and Health – ATH Experience – you can provide your athletes with a comprehensive approach to athletic development. The ATH Experience includes a tour of our human performance center, a full performance evaluation for each athlete and a modified training session to mimic a typical training class. Once we evaluate our athletes we discuss the results and help set specific goals for each individual, which ensures we place them in the proper program to achieve their goals.
We provide demonstration exercises and a future plan for potential re-testing and training programs for your athletes.
To have your organization tested, a team from Texas Health Sports Medicine and Athlete Training and Health would either come to your school or team training home or invite you to our new 25,000 human performance center. We would deliver score and performance reports for each athlete that would include a brief set of exercises based on a ACL risk group as well as a performance training plan. We would also provide demonstration exercises and a future plan for potential re-testing and training programs for your athletes.
